DOG BEHAVIOUR ASSESSMENTS

Helping You Help Your Pet

Canine behaviour problems are rarely caused by a single factor. They are often influenced by a combination of genetics, learning history, environment, health, and emotional state. Because of this, effective behaviour work must always begin with a thorough and ethical assessment.

My Canine Behaviour Assessment is a comprehensive, standalone service designed to understand why your dog is behaving the way they are, and to determine what needs to happen next. This service is suitable for dogs experiencing issues such as reactivity, aggression, fear, anxiety, resource guarding, compulsive behaviours, or sudden changes in behaviour.

If you are unsure whether your dog requires a behaviour assessment please contact me to discuss your dog's needs.

I offer behaviour assessments to the following postcode areas: PO11, PO12, PO13, PO14, PO15, PO16, PO17, SO30, SO31 and SO32. If you are outside of these areas please contact me directly to discuss if I can help.

How An Assessment Works

1

Veterinary Referral

Prior to booking a behavioural assessment, you must consult your vet for a full medical check-up and ask your vet for a referral to my services. This is to ensure all potential medical factors behind your pet's behaviour are first ruled out, and allows me to work alongside your vet to achieve the best outcome for your dog. You can print off a referral form to give to your vet at the bottom of this page

2

Behaviour Assessment

A 2-hour in-depth assessment carried out in your home or virtually. A detailed discussion of your dog’s history, lifestyle, triggers, and current challenges. Observation of your dog’s behaviour where appropriate and safe. Immediate, practical management advice to help reduce stress and risk.  A written behaviour report explaining my findings in clear, accessible language

3

Relevant Referrals

If, during the assessment, I believe pain, medical conditions, or physiological factors may be contributing to your dog’s behaviour, I will recommend that you return to your vet as a first action point before any training begins. If I feel your dog’s needs would be best met by a Veterinary Behaviourist, I will advise referral as the most appropriate next step. This ensures your dog receives the right support, from the right professional, at the right time.

4

Training Support

At the end of your report, I will clearly outline my professional recommendations for next steps. This may include: A recommendation for structured training sessions (e.g. reactivity work, stooge dog sessions, confidence building). An estimated number or range of sessions required. You are under no obligation to book further services. If training is recommended and I am the right person to support your dog, you are welcome to book sessions separately once you are ready.

VETERINARY REFERRAL FORM

All behaviour assessments require me to receive a referral from your vet, prior to booking. This is simple and easy to obtain. Select the button below to download my referral form. This should then be passed to your vet who will fill it in and return it to me.
